Huimen Group announced recently that it has developed a lightweight, high strength aluminium piston, which can help improve the energy density and efficiency of direct injection gasoline engines.
The advanced Elastoval II piston developed by Huimen Company is not only lighter in weight, but also helpful to improve output power, and can withstand higher pressure in the later stage of the engine's high charge combustion cycle.
Elastoval II piston is about 20% lighter than the traditional piston. The wall thickness of the piston produced by Glow Gate is 4 mm. The wall thickness of the newly developed Elastoval II piston is only 2.5 mm.
Arnd Baberg, chief engineer of Huimen Power Energy Products, said that reducing the thickness of the piston wall meant redesigning the entire structure of the piston.
Some automobile manufacturers are validating the Elastoval II piston of Huimen, which plans to mass produce the new piston by the end of this year.
